2024 Ballot Question

IMPOSITION OF SALES TAX FOR THE PAVILION, PARK, BEACHFRONT, AND PARKING IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
Shall the City of Detroit Lakes, Minnesota be authorized to impose a temporary sales and use tax of one-half of one percent for a period of approximately twelve years or until approximately $17,300,000, plus an amount equal to interest and the costs of issuing any bonds is raised, to pay the costs of collecting and administering the tax and to finance all or a portion of the costs of construction of a new Pavilion, and park improvements, beachfront improvements, and parking improvements; provided that such tax shall terminate sooner if the City Council determines that all such costs have been paid?

How to Vote

Vote Early by Mail

Early voting will begin on Friday, September 20. To apply for an absentee ballot, visit the website of the Minnesota Secretary of State.

Your ballot must be received in the mail by Election Day. You can return your ballot in person no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day to count.

Vote Early in Person

Early in-person voting begins on Friday, September 20 through Monday, November 4. To vote early in person, apply for an absentee ballot and return your ballot in person no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day.

Detroit Lakes residents can vote early in person at the Becker County Courthouse

Vote on Election Day

Election Day is on Tuesday, November 5. All Detroit Lakes residents can vote from 7:00am to 8:00pm at their voting location.
