Chicken Permit

City residents may keep chickens upon obtaining a permit. Residents must complete the permit application and adhere to the laws set forth in the City of Detroit Lakes Municipal Code.  

Application & Important things to remember are:

• Completed application must be submitted  
• Permit fee: $60 
• This permit applies to chickens only.  Roosters are expressly forbidden. 

 

Applications are typically processed within 2 weeks.
