Commercial Yard Waste

The City of Detroit Lakes requires business get a Commercial Yard Waste License to dispose of materials at the compost site. Businesses must complete the application and adhere to the laws set forth in the City of Detroit Lakes Municipal Code.  

Application & Important things to remember are:

• Completed application must be submitted  
• Permit fee: $500
• Accepted materials at the yard waste site:
• Grass clippings
• Leaves
• Branches and Brush
• Garden plants
• Flowers and Bushes.
• Yard Waste does not include trees, tree stumps or tree branches with any diameter in excess of 4 inches or a length greater than 5 feet long

 

Applications are considered for approval by City Council on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, once approved, applications will be processed and issued within 2-3 business days.
