License Required

The City of Detroit Lakes requires all dogs and cats within the City and over the age of three months to be licensed annually. You may purchase your license at the City Administration Building at 1025 Roosevelt Ave. The cost for a license can be found on the fee schedule.  Proof of rabies vaccination must be provided at time of licensing.  Your pet license will expire on December 31^st of each year, regardless of the date it was purchased.

City Ordinance 503A prohibits any person from keeping more than three dogs, cats, rabbits, or combination thereof within city limits. If you have more then three animals, Ordinance 503A requires the sterilization of all three. Proof of sterilization must be provided when licensing the animals.
